North of Amsterdam you will find the typical “polder” landscape, known for its windmills, wooden shoes, cheese and fishing villages. With this tour you can experience everything in one day!
First we visit the Zaanse Schans, the open air museum. You will see the art of making clogs and visit a cheesefarm ; you can even taste the Dutch cheeses and see the interior of a traditional windmill. Edam is next, known for its cheese market, and we will guide you through the historical town.
Then you can explore Volendam, where you can get a lunch (with fresh smoked eel , a delicacy), and do some shopping.
Included is a visit to Marken, a former island, where 2000 inhabitants are still trying to maintain their traditional habits.
